The island of Skiathos

Skiathos is the closest to land of the Sporades islands. It is 41 nautical miles away. miles from the capital of the prefecture of Magnesia, Volos and only 2.4 miles from the coast of southern Pelion. The area of the island is 48 sq. km.

Skiathos has rich vegetation and many beaches, the most famous of which are Koukounaries, Banana, Mikri and Megali Aselinos, Megali Ammos, Lalaria, Vromolimnos, Kanapitsa, the island of Tsougria, etc.

High-lights of Skiathos

In the town of Skiathos is the perfectly preserved house of Alexandros Papadiamantis who was born and lived on the island.

In the port of the city there is also Bourtzi, a small peninsula that divides it in two.

There are also many old churches and monasteries on the island.
